Why trust House Method?

We’re homeowners, renters, researchers, journalists, parents, environmentalists, preservationists, organizers, green thumbs, velvet sofa enthusiasts—and we’re very particular about our homes.

If we’re not the expert on a topic, we call someone who is, so our readers always get the best advice.

We help more that 5.7 million readers create a better home and a better life, we spend more than $500,000 each year testing great products for your home, and we conduct an average of six product tests every day.

House Method Reviews

It’s our mission to make purchasing easier, so you can focus on living.

Our research specialists test and review household products and services and analyze consumer reviews to find the best products to make your home simpler, more efficient, and enjoyable. And we test it all, from invisible fences, to vacuum cleaners, Honda generators, trampolines, and more. If you can use it in your home, we’ve probably got a team on it.

Where we get the products

The House Method Reviews team doesn’t accept free products from brands, instead they shop all day with the company credit card. They buy the best products on the market and put them to the test. It’s a pretty sweet gig.

Where and how we test

We’ve built a state-of-the-art studio right here in our office. If we can’t test it in the studio, we simply take it outside. This ensures that our tests are controlled and repeatable so you get verified, unbiased, and honest recommendations.

Our consumer analysts also dig into hundreds, sometimes thousands, of consumer reviews to understand how users are experiencing the products in their everyday lives and how well they hold up over time. We spend 10.5 hours on average per review. This includes choosing the best products and testing them in our studio, tapping into verified customer reviews, and conducting research on manufacturers and service providers.

How we make money

We have affiliate relationships with some of the brands we review. If you buy one of the products mentioned on our site, House Method may receive a commission at no cost to you, the reader, which is how we fund our research and bring you better reviews and comparisons.

How we maintain editorial integrity

Our editorial teams don’t know the nature of our affiliate relationships. By keeping our business teams and our editorial teams separate, we ensure that our recommendations are based on the results of our tests, not the size of the commissions we get.
