Billed as “America’s best priced luxury mattress,” the Saatva mattress is an innercoil mattress with a few foam elements. It uses a coil-on-coil system found primarily in higher-end mattresses. The base layer is composed of of traditional innercoils (connected Bonnel innercoils, which offer support and durability), and the second layer is made of individually wrapped steel coils meant to minimize unwanted motion transfer. The edges of the Saatva mattress encase the individually wrapped innercoils in foam for extra support.
To relieve pressure on the hips, shoulders, and neck, the Saatva features a layer of foam on top of the complex innercoil system. You get the support and durability of an innercoil mattress with the pressure-relieving contouring of memory foam.
The Saatva has a pillow top sewn into the mattress. The padded cushions are placed below the top layer of the mattress, giving a cleaner, more stable, and less lumpy feel than mattresses with pillow tops sewn directly on top. The innerspring, foam, and pillow-top components are all sewn into an organic cotton cover.
Saatva’s mattresses are never sprayed with toxic flame retardant, but instead use a natural thistle barrier made of “wood pulp and bonded with a small amount of polyester.”
Saatva also sells a Lineal Adjustable Base. The Saatva mattress was designed with this adjustable, motorized base in mind. The Lineal base is remote controlled and is significantly smaller and sleeker than most adjustable beds. It also includes lighting underneath that can be controlled with the remote. The Lineal Adjustable Base also provides back, head, and leg massage in three different speeds.
