The Nolah mattress is a 100% foam mattress billed as memory foam’s cooler alternative. The Nolah comprises three layers. From top to bottom:

  • 2 inches of cooling Nolah AirFoam
  • 1 inch of supportive Avena foam
  • 7 inches of high-density base foam
  • All three layers are wrapped in a natural viscose cover

Nolah uses an air-filled (pneumatic) foam that offers “the support of traditional memory foam and the bounce of latex.” The pneumatic foam is temperature neutral because it’s made without a lot of the traditionally temperature-trapping chemicals of memory foam. Plus, the air pockets offer excellent airflow and breathability. And because the Nolah is a springless foam mattress, you don’t have to worry about motion transfer.

You can use the Nolah mattress on virtually any flat surface—a platform bed, a slatted bed, or a box spring. You can even use it on an adjustable, medical-grade bed. Nolah mattresses are manufactured in the United States (Indiana, to be exact) and all of their thread and yarns come from family-owned US suppliers.

Nolah also partners with Defenders of Wildlife and “adopts” a wild animal of your choosing when you buy a Nolah mattress.

Nolah offers a single level of firmness—a 6 on the 10-point firmness scale, and the soft top layer offers significant pressure relief.

The tiny air pockets serve to minimize “peak pressure,” or the pressure points at your shoulders and hips that lead to soreness when not properly supported. According to Nolah’s own tests, the pneumatic foam is four times more effective than traditional memory foam when relieving stress on pressure points.

We had a very old mattress and finally decided to try a bed in the box. Best decision we ever made! Very easy transaction and I woke up feeling great. No more aching hips! Highly recommended!” — Sheila L.

I love my Nolah in so many ways. I am a side sleeper and it is certainly more comfortable than my old mattress – and older Tempurpedic. It really does seem to sleep very cool. My only wish is that is was just a little bit more plush. Overall, I highly suggest it for their quick delivery and what is truly a very comfortable mattress.” — Andrea B.
