Airweave mattresses, with their patented “airfibers,” are billed as an alternative to innerspring and foam mattresses. The company’s founder, Motokuni Takaoka, reportedly decided to make mattresses out of the thin, stringlike resin fibers (not unlike fishing line) after taking over his uncle’s fishing line company.
Each airweave mattress consists of two four-inch layers of airfibers and comes with a thin, breathable polyester/cotton-blend cover (55% polyester and 45% cotton). Airweave is marketed as “the first mattress that’s completely washable and is made of a recyclable core material.”

Airweave now offers a customizable experience with the Mattress Advanced. Featuring DUAL MODE technology, an optional pillow top layer to add softness, and an inner and outer cover to secure all components, this mattress provides a high level of support and regulates body temperature throughout the night.
Airweave also offers what they call the airweave Top Mattress, which is a two-inch layer of airfibers wrapped in a polyester/cotton-blend cover and is used like a traditional mattress topper. The Top Mattress is airweave’s first patented product and sells incredibly well in Japan.
Airweave also offers a travel mattress topper called airweave Portable, which comes in only one size (39.4” x 74.8” x 1.4”) and fits into standard carry-on luggage.

Airweave mattresses come with only one level of firmness (8.5–9.5, depending on the platform you use) and is one of the firmest mattresses on the market. According to the airweave FAQ, you can adjust the firmness of the mattress by placing it on different kinds of bed frames:
If you like a firm sleep surface (9/9.5 on the firmness scale) pick a platform frame with a solid surface. If you would like the feel to be a little softer (8.5 on the firmness scale) find a platform bed with slats.
Because it can take up to three weeks for your body to adjust to a new mattress, Airweave offers a 100-night trial. If you are not completely satisfied with the mattress, you are eligible for a full refund in the form of original payment as long as you get in touch within 100 days from when your item was delivered. Expect a refund within 5–7 days after the removal service of your airweave mattress.
Airweave offers a 10-year limited warranty for all of their mattresses. The airweave Portable and the airweave Top Mattress come with three-year limited warranties.
