After a cold winter spent indoors, one of the best ways to get your house ready for warmer weather is gardening. Not only is it a great excuse to get outside, a pop of color in your lawn can go a long way to improve your yard’s appearance.

But which spring flower is America’s favorite? Thanks to Google Trends, we determined the top Spring flower in each state. Keep reading to find your state’s favorite Spring flower.

Daisies are the most searched flower in the U.S., winning eleven states overall. It’s clear that the low-maintenance blossoms are beloved across the country. While these flowers are often found in wild patches, they can also be planted and grown in backyards. With the daisy season beginning around April, these flowers are nearly synonymous with springtime.

Behind daisies are roses and pansies, each claiming nine and eight states respectively. Together, these three flowers represent the most popular flower in over half of the nation claiming 28 states in total. All of these are classic options that are staples to any garden.

However, some of the less traditional flowers are still beloved and worth noting. These include lilies of the valley, camellias, buttercups, hyacinths, and blue stars. These flowers all earned a spot in the top ten and are the perfect way to differentiate your garden from your neighbor’s.

There seems to be a trend among the climate of the state and the conditions its respective flower thrives in. For example, Alaska’s most popular flower is a peony, which does best in cold temperatures. On the other hand, roses are often found in hot tropical climates, explaining its popularity in Florida.

Keeping your garden alive and healthy is sometimes easier said than done, especially if you weren’t born with a natural green thumb. When it comes to landscaping there’s a lot more to think about than just what color flower you’ll plant.

Before you begin, you need to consider your budget, location, landscaping style, and task maturity. Mistakes commonly made by landscaping beginners include attempting advanced transformations without professional help, disregarding plant climate zones, and neglecting the front yard because of its smaller size.

Flowers look best when the whole lawn is in tip-top shape, and caring for your lawn in the spring is especially important. From weeding to aerating, this is the ideal time to put in the prepwork so that your yard is ready for the warm months ahead.

However, each lawn is different. It’s up to you to find the right lawn treatment and the right lawn care provider for your home and lifestyle. While some tasks like mowing and weed control are a necessity in almost any yard, other needs vary based on the individual lawn.

Whether you opt for camellias or carnations this Springtime, your garden is sure to be beautiful with proper maintenance and care. Here’s to warmer weather and spending more time outdoors!
