Step Inside a Colorful and Classic Home on Central Park West

On the Upper West Side of Manhattan where Central Park West meets 83rd Street stands a 15-story building that overlooks the park. On a clear day in spring, the view from the rooftop deck is in three layers: the emerald green fabric of the park’s canopy, topped with a thin line of Upper East Side buildings, all dwarfed by a smear of spectacular blue sky.

The building at 230 Central Park West was erected in 1926. Those who call this neo-Georgian style building home are treated to expansive views of Central Park and the glittering Midtown skyline, perhaps most delightful on a day like this.

We stepped inside an apartment on the sixth floor. This home, currently listed by Corcoran Group, features Brazilian cherry hardwoods and a wood-burning fireplace. The decor is colorful, classic, elevated, featuring a mix of contemporary pieces with soft curves plus stately antiques, epitomizing its Upper West Side location.

We enjoyed the book-stuffed built-ins, mosaic-tile kitchen, and landscaped roof deck, but there’s still more.
