Why Trust House Method
House Method’s Experts collected and analyzed 2000+ critical data points to identify what makes a great home warranty company in the eye of the consumer. Our reviews team used this data to assess over 60 home warranty providers for coverage extent, annual cost, and national availability to provide unbiased reviews so homeowners can confidently navigate key decisions about their homes.
Liberty Home Guard offers three coverage plans to customers—Appliance Guard Plan, Systems Guard Plan, and Total Home Guard Plan—at an average cost of $65-$75 a month. Customers also have the option to add on additional coverage for 20 different items, including a stand alone freezer, water softener, pool, and spa.
Note: The price of your Liberty Home Guard plan will vary depending on where you live, the plan you select, and how many add-ons you include in your plan.
Appliance Guard Plan: $64.99 per month ($649.99 per year). This plan covers 11 of your home’s major appliances:
System Guard: $69.99 per month ($699.99 per year). This plan protects a variety of your home’s essential systems:
Total Home Guard: $74.99 per month ($749.99 per year). This plan offers the most comprehensive protection, combining coverage under Appliance Guard and System Guard to protect most major home appliances and systems:
Optional Coverage: Liberty has one of the largest selections of add-ons of any home warranty provider. If you want more comprehensive coverage, you can add the following to your plan:
In addition to the monthly premium, you can expect to pay a $75 service call fee every time you file a claim. Similar to how homeowners insurance companies have a deductible, home warranty companies have service fees. This fee is paid directly to the contractor when they come to assess a broken appliance or system.
This graph represents the monthly premium customers would pay under Liberty Home Guard’s most basic plan against what they would pay for competitor plans. Note: these prices do not include the service fee amount.
Coverage begins 30 days after the agreement period begins, which is normally 30 days after Liberty Home Guard receives and accepts your application and payment. Coverage will continue for the length of the contract. If Liberty Home Guard chooses to, they can elect to renew your contract 60 days prior to expiration. Unless you decline the offer to renew, you’ll be charged the cost of the renewed plan.
Liberty Home Guard doesn’t cover routine maintenance of covered items. Additionally, Liberty Home Guard doesn’t cover commercial-grade equipment or the disposal cost of an appliance, system, or component.
Liberty Home Guard has a coverage cap of $2,000 for most items, including heating system and AC units (HVAC). This means that for the length of the contract, this provider will only cover repairs or replacements for each appliance and system up to $2,000.
Before signing a contract with any home warranty company, ensure that you understand their terms and conditions, where information, such as the coverage lengths and limits, will be detailed.
Our team at House Method wanted to know which home systems and appliances are most valuable to policyholders, so we surveyed 1,000 homeowners and asked them which items were most important to them. The survey’s results showed that the most important systems and appliances to customers are the plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, refrigerator, oven/stove/range, and washer/dryer.
Refrigerator
The kitchen refrigerator is covered under both Appliance Guard and Total Home Guard. Both plans cover all mechanical components and parts of a fridge, including freezer components that are essential to its function. Refrigerator and ice maker each have coverage limits at $2,000.
Oven/range/stovetop
Liberty Home Guard covers all mechanical components and parts of the oven/range/stovetop through Appliance Guard and Total Home Guard coverage but doesn’t protect cosmetic items, such as handles and racks. The oven coverage cap is $2,000.
Clothes washer and dryer
The clothes washer and dryer are covered under Liberty Home Guard’s Appliance Guard and Total Home Guard plans. Components and parts essential to the functionality of the appliance are covered. Both the washer and dryer are covered up to $2,000.
Electrical system
The electrical system is covered under System Guard and Total Home Guard protection. Coverage encompasses all mechanical components and parts of the system but leaves out coverage for items like carbon monoxide and smoke detectors. The electrical system coverage has a $2,000 coverage limit.
Plumbing system
Liberty Home Guard’s System Guard and Total Home Guard plans protect a variety of items in your home’s plumbing system, including toilet tanks, built-in bathtubs, and water leaks and breaks. Notable items that LHG doesn’t cover are drain stoppages, Roman tubs, and bathtub drain mechanisms. Plumbing, like most other appliances and systems, has a coverage limit of $2,000.
Air conditioning
Under LHG’s System Guard and Total Home Guard, ducted electric central A/C and ducted electric wall A/C up to a five-ton capacity are covered. Liberty Home Guard doesn’t cover leaks of any kind or window units, unless extra coverage is purchased.
Although the industry average claim denial rate is 10%, Liberty Home Guard boasts a 3% claim denial rate. LHG has recently relaunched their claims portal in order to allow customers to have an easier time filing and tracking claims.
Liberty Home Guard offers coverage in 48 states and Washington, D.C. It doesn’t cover Washington or Wisconsin. To find a home warranty in one of these states, visit our state home warranty page.
For a new company in the home warranty industry, Liberty Home Guard provides comprehensive coverage at a competitive price—factors that we believe make this provider competitive in a saturated market.
Liberty Home Guard is always available to its policyholders, offering customer service 24 hours a day. Additionally, this provider will expedite a service if it’s deemed an emergency, so you won’t have to wait the typical 48 hours for a service technician.
When it comes to coverage, Liberty Home Guard home warranty coverage protects customers through the choice of three plans, covering most major appliances and systems. Although LHG doesn’t give you the option to customize your own coverage, this company offers 20 optional items that can be added to any plan, allowing you to complete your coverage to fit your needs and offer you some peace of mind.
While Liberty Home Guard follows or surpasses the industry standard when it comes to covered items and customer service, the provider does fall short when it comes to allowing customers to cancel their coverage. While many home warranty companies allow their customers to cancel at no charge with a full refund within the first 30 days, LHG charges a cancellation fee of $50 and the cost of any claims paid.

Thank you for being there during this horrible time. I was so upset when my plumbing failed on me and thought getting a mechanic would be impossible due to this COVID-19. I’m so thankful for the prompt service I got from you all.

I called in with a claim on my stove; they scheduled someone to come out the following day; the repairman showed up early (he called me first to make sure it was ok, and I confirmed it was). Very cordial, professional, experienced. He diagnosed and corrected the issue appropriately. I was pleased with the service. Thank you.

I filed a claim on Sunday and first thing Monday I received a call from a technician to setup the appointment for repair. Outstanding Service from Liberty Home Guard and Courtney! The technician was punctual, informative and didn’t waste time. He got right to work. Very professional. After he completed the repair, he showed me everything was working, said his goodbyes and he was off to his next job.
