Home Warranty of America costs between $41 and $53 per month. This is based on the quotes our team at House Method received. HWA is responsible for approving claims and determining whether a claim is an emergency. A service contractor will be dispatched to your home within 48 hours.
Your service fee ($75 or $100) is due to the contractor at the time of their arrival. Covered home repair services are guaranteed for 90 days and parts are guaranteed for 30 days. This means that HWA won’t charge you a second service fee if the covered item breaks again within this timeframe.
It’s important that you do not hire your own contractor to perform the repairs. HWA will not reimburse customers for hiring a professional outside of its network.

Home Warranty of America has been in business for 22 years. This is impressive for a home warranty company. The industry itself is only 48 years old. House Method was impressed with HWA’s user-friendly platform given its time in the business. Many new home warranty companies lack an online presence, which we find puzzling, but HWA offers live chat and free online quotes—no contact information necessary.
Although Home Warranty of America is BBB-accredited, the Better Business Bureau has not rated HWA. This is due to a pattern of complaints that the BBB is evaluating. Customers have reported HWA as unresponsive to their inquiries. We have had HWA for one year now. During our time with them, we have had to submit two claims and have had both our furnace and water heater replaced. Both times they were extremely prompt with their service.
We called yesterday about our water heater, they immediately processed our claim and gave me the number to call for a technician. The technician came the next day and was able to promptly complete and submit his inspection, and HWA approved the replacement within minutes. All said, the hot water heater was replaced and fully operational within 24 hours of when we filed our claim. I am extremely impressed. Keep up the good work!

Five-star review of Chicagoland Heating and Cooling and, of course, HWA for helping me when I was in need yesterday! Woke up to it only being 51 degrees in our house yesterday. Yikes—it was chilly, to say the least. I called HWA to file my first claim as a homeowner. I made the call to HWA at 11:30 a.m. spoke with a very nice woman whose main goal was to get me a vendor ASAP.
No joke, the second I hung up the phone, Steve from called me and said he could be out to my home in 30 to 45 minutes. Just like that, he was at my front door! Turns out my gas valve needed to be replaced and the filter needed to be changed as well. [It was] replaced, [Steve] collected the trade call fee, and [he] was onto his next job. We have heat and all is good again!
