Structural Plan: 2-10 HBW has a structural plan that offers protection for a home’s workmanship. With this warranty, homeowners can protect their new home for up to 10 years from structural damage.

This type of coverage is complimentary where allowed by law (service fees are still applicable at the time of service). For example, in Florida, Seller coverage is $60. This coverage includes protection for the Seller’s major appliances, like the refrigerator, plumbing, and electrical.

Our team at House Method wanted to accurately rate home warranties based on the coverage they provide. To get a better idea of the coverage that matters most to consumers, we surveyed 1,000 homeowners and asked them which systems and appliances were most valuable to them.
We concluded that the top three systems people cared about are the electrical, plumbing, and air conditioning systems, and the top three appliances that hold the most importance are the refrigerator, washer/dryer, and oven/stove/range.
Here’s what that coverage looks like under a 2-10 HBW home warranty:
2-10 HBW covers the following parts of a kitchen refrigerator: handles, hinges, ice crusher, beverage dispenser, and other respective equipment. Racks, shelves, interior thermal shells, food spoilage, and freezers which are not integral parts of the kitchen refrigerator aren’t covered.
The handles, hinges, clocks, rotisseries, racks, knobs and dials, interior lining, glass/ceramic cooktops, self cleaning mechanisms, and latch assemblies are covered under a 2-10 HBW plan.
Clothes washer and dryer
The following components are excluded from coverage: plastic mini-tub, soap dispensers, filter screens, knobs, dials, lint screen, and damage to clothing.
Under a 2-10 HBW plan, electrical system coverage includes wiring, switches, outlets, panels, and telephone wiring. It doesn’t cover wires outside the home or garage, electronic or computerized energy management systems, or lighting fixtures that are not hard-wired.
Here are just a few items covered under a 2-10 HBW plan: leaks and breaks of water pipes, pressure regulators, waste lines and vent lines, assembly parts within the toilet tank, and shower, tub, and diverter valves.

The 2-10 HBW plans cover a variety of air conditioning units, from central A/C and heat pumps to geothermal systems, evaporative coolers, and built-in electric wall units. Coverage also includes thermostats.
Your 2-10 HBW coverage will begin 30 days after the sale date. Contracts typically last for a year with the option to renew at the end of the coverage term.
If you look at your home warranty contract, you’ll see the maximum coverage limits for certain home systems and appliances, such as your septic system, refrigerator, toilet, and swimming pool. Here are just a few items and their associated coverage limits.

I submitted a claim for work I had completed prior to discussions with 2-10. (I am a new home owner and forgot I received the warrantee). I submitted the claim via email (the website is not user-friendly), but had a real person call me back. It took 7 days for a return call. Since I had supreme service with the septic supplement, they agreed to pay half the bill (awaiting payment). If I had gone through the correct process, he said they would have paid the complete bill. I was happy with the outcome, especially after reading some of the horrible experiences.
